There’s nothing better than watching a couple go from engagement to wedding to parenthood! It’s amazing to watch a family grow before your very eyes, and to be the one to document the process! I met Joyce and Austin a few years ago over coffee in Birmingham to talk more about what they were looking for in a wedding photographer and it was amazing to walk into their new home last summer to meet their first little one!
The best part about my newborn sessions is honestly how CHILL they are. I offer at home newborn sessions, which means there’s no hustle and bustle to get out the door, no worrying you’ve forgotten a crucial piece of baby gear, no anxiety about figuring out if you’ve pumped enough or packed enough or will have time and a place to sit to breastfeed. I literally come to your house, where you’re the most comfortable and where you have everything you need for the earliest days of parenthood and we take it easy. We set up in the room with the most natural light (sometimes that’s the nursery, sometimes that’s the bedroom and sometimes that’s the livingroom, but honestly we could even do it in the kitchen!) and we basically just spend some time fawning over the tiny human you created. Kissing their nose, snuggling them up, studying their little features, counting their fingers & toes, brushing back their soft as silk baby hair. The actual photo taking doesn’t require a lot of time— babies are cute no matter what they’re doing, they make it easy— but we take it slow and give mama + baby (and sometimes furry friends or older siblings!) lots of breaks.
My goal is to make it easy and stress free. I want to help you bottle up those first few weeks with your new babe but in a way that it feels natural, relaxed and so freakin easy.
The best time for newborn photos is within the first three weeks of life, which means it’s best to reach out to get your session penciled in on the schedule before you have your little one earthside to insure you’re able to get something on the books during the ideal timeframe.
